The Liberal Democrat Energy and Climate Spokesperson and MP for Bath, Wera Hobhouse, challenged the Secretary of State for Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy, Grant Shapps, at the Government’s Energy Security Statement, on 29th November, to introduce an inspection scheme for private landlords to stop them letting out properties which do not meet the Government’s energy efficiency target of Band C. Mr Shapps responded to the question by saying that there was currently a consultation ongoing over raising the minimum standards for landlords.
