The Liberal Democrat Energy and Climate Spokesperson and MP for Bath, Wera Hobhouse, challenged the Secretary of State for Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy, Grant Shapps, at the Government’s Energy Security Statement, on 29th November, to introduce an inspection scheme for private landlords to stop them letting out properties which do not meet the Government’s energy efficiency target of Band C. Mr Shapps responded to the question by saying that there was currently a consultation ongoing over raising the minimum standards for landlords.

Liberal Democrat Energy and Climate Spokesperson and MP for Bath, Wera Hobhouse, challenged the Government on 24th November at Topical Questions in the Commons Chamber over their slow progress on decarbonising the railways. Ms Hobhouse called on the Government to stop ordering new diesel trains and speed up the electrification of the railways. She said the current Government plans looked more like 'Not Zero' rather than Net Zero.

At Business Questions on 24th November, Liberal Democrat Spokesperson for Energy and Climate and Bath MP, Wera Hobhouse challenged the Government to stop stalling on remit reform for Ofgem to allow preemptive investment which would increase the National Grid’s capacity. The Leader of the House, Penny Mordaunt, said that she will ask the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy to respond directly to Ms Hobhouse’s point.
