Faster and Fairer Climate Action...

9 October 2019

On Tuesday in Westminster, MPs debated whether the government is moving fast enough to reduce the UK's carbon footprint.

The current government target is 2050 to get to net zero carbon emissions which warm the planet, causing extreme weather, flooding and the death of plants and animals. Wera believes that we can and should get there faster - by 2045 - and in a way that is economically and socially sustainable.

Above, Wera argues the government can and should create Citizen’s Assemblies - both to share information about how we all reduce our carbon footprint, and to make sure the most vulnerable have a voice.
