Wera Opens Local Art Exhibition
24 April 2018
Bathampton Art Group celebrated its 50th Anniversary with an art exhibition and competition at Bathampton Village Hall on Saturday 21st April.
Founder member Jack Bryant single-handedly ran the group for a number of years. It has grown in popularity and now has around 100 members, the majority of whom live in Bath. Artists develop using the expertise of more experienced members. The group welcomes all levels and abilities.
Wera trained as an artist herself and is passionate about painting, as she explained in her brief talk to the group. Wera met Deirdre Bryant, Jack’s widow, as well as other members of the group and admired the varied art on display. Students in Years 7 - 9 from King Edward’s School participated in the show for the first time, winning in the categories Favourite of the Public and Highly Commended. Catherine Beale, a well known Bath artist, judged the art. The exhibition attracted over 250 guests and 32 paintings were sold.
