Women and girls across the country are not receiving the support they need after facing sexual violence.
Despite the UK signing up to the Istanbul Convention in 2012, the Conservative Government has failed to enshrine the Convention in law.
It would ensure that survivors have access to services facilitating their recovery from sexual violence, and states there should be at least 150 Rape Centres in England and Wales. There are currently only 44, which are often forced to shut their waiting lists due to over demand.
Wera Hobhouse has been working with campaigner Fern Champion to get women and girls this support. Wera has tabled Early Day Motion 2328, which asks the government to enshrine the Istanbul Convention in to law.
