Domestic Abuse Bill Should Go Further

1 May 2020

Wera put herself forward to speak in the Parliamentary debate on the Domestic Abuse Bill.

Wera said:

“I can testify personally to the importance that the Domestic Abuse Bill holds for survivors of domestic abuse, both in my constituency and further afield.

It is a progressive reform that should be celebrated, but the Bill could go even further to protect survivors, children who witness violence and to prevent homelessness. It should also be more inclusive of all the groups impacted by domestic abuse.

Unfortunately I was not given the opportunity to speak in our virtual Parliament on this important topic. I have recorded this video to share what I would have said.”
