No Place for Racism in Bath

15 March 2018

A racist incident in a Bath School, reported on here by the Bath Chronicle, has left the city in shock.

On learning of the incident, Wera said:

"This has shaken our city’s community to the core. I am shocked that this has happened, and appalled that the governors have overturned the expulsions.

We need to look at ourselves, our attitudes and our behaviours, and make sure that we are all are acting in ways that result in a welcoming and tolerant community. There is no place for racism and hatred in Bath, or indeed in civilised society."

Wera, along with media reporting on the story, are not naming the school. This is to protect the identities of the children involved, in doing so preventing serious safeguarding issues. A police investigation is currently underway surrounding the incident.
